Infusion Therapy

Medically reviewed by Tara J. Adhikari, MD, FACR, board-certified rheumatologist · Last reviewed October 2026

Many modern treatments for arthritis, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases are given through an IV (infusion) or as an injection under the skin. Cincy Arthritis has an infusion suite in our Blue Ash office, so patients can get these treatments close to home, without going to a hospital.

We give infusions to patients of our own practice and to patients referred by dermatologists, gastroenterologists and eye doctors. Infusions are usually used when pills alone have not controlled the disease.

What to expect

  • Our infusion nurse reviews your health and checks your vital signs before each treatment

  • Infusions can take from under an hour to several hours, depending on the medicine

  • You are monitored throughout the treatment

  • Many medicines repeat every few weeks or months, and we schedule them around your other visits

Insurance and billing

Many infusion medicines need approval from your insurance before the first dose. Our team handles this pre-approval for you and will let you know when your treatment is approved. For infusion and injection billing questions, call (866) 208-1491.

Common questions

Can I drive home after an infusion?

Most patients can. If a medicine is likely to make you drowsy, we will tell you ahead of time.

Can I eat before my infusion?

Yes. Eat normally and drink plenty of fluids unless we tell you otherwise.

Can my own specialist refer me for infusions?

Yes. Dermatologists, gastroenterologists and eye doctors can refer patients to our infusion suite. Please have your doctor’s office contact us.
